The New Family Van

Through a totally amazing work of God, we got our dream used mini van yesterday. Our old van needed a new transmission, praise the Lord it was still running, but we sold it on Wednesday to a family that could replace it themselves. This, plus savings left us with x number of dollars and a real desire for a used Toyota or Honda mini van to replace the old one. Well, after much homework, Scott and a good friend set out at 5:30 am on a 3 1/2 hour drive to Tulsa to see a privately owned Toyota that was "in great condition". Well, it was a piece of junk. The first thing Scott asked about was the missing door handle. Evidently, it had been pulled off by someone in the trailer park they were living in a few years ago. Then when he started it the guy mentioned that "a few sensors" were lit, and he didn't know why.

Scott's call home to let me know they had just driven 3 hours for nothing prompted me to do one last computer search for anything in Oklahoma City that they could look at on their way home. I made several calls, but nothing looked hopeful. I called on the 2001 Honda Odyssey pictured here, even though I was I called on Wed and they told me it went to auction. I ended up with the new car internet manager. He said people were working on a deal right now and they wouldn't know till Monday if the financing would go through. I, the desperate and pregnant woman, explained that we had cash and could take it today... We both agreed that would really not be fair, but 5 min later he called back and said it just might work. So, Scott and his friend waited around in OKC, eating free Chipotle at a new restaurant that was just practicing for their upcoming opening until the other people were done looking at the van. It was priced $1500 over what we had and Scott was hoping to bargain big time. When he told the guy how much cash we had, he countered lower than his offer so that we could be out the door for Scott's offer. With phone calls to department heads off site it all came together. Scott was in shock! It really is the van that we wanted, but didn't think we could get in our price range. It even has TV! Yea God! And, we got it all done before the new baby arrived!
